Become a Journalist-Investigator
World Public Defense is a private, non-profit alliance of lawful observers committed to documenting abuse, protecting rights, and upholding the truth peacefully, honorably, and without subordination to institutional bias or censorship.
We are not licensed by any government. We operate under the protection of internationally recognized rights, including:
Article 10 – European Convention on Human Rights (Freedom of expression)
Article 11 – Charter of Fundamental Rights of the EU (Freedom of assembly and information)
Recommendation R(2000)7 of the Council of Europe (Right of journalists not to disclose their sources)
General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) — which protects the personal data of all individuals acting under lawful, private capacity.
Voluntary, Lawful & Protected by Principle
This is not a paid position. At this time, all journalist-investigators contribute voluntarily.
We do not issue press cards, nor do we use titles such as “correspondent” or “reporter” bound by commercial media.
We are lawful, private observers, men and women who document misconduct, report truth, and protect the public’s right to know.
All registered investigators are issued a physical badge with a unique six-digit ID.
This badge does not reveal personal identity, but stands as a lawful symbol of affiliation, a protective emblem to assert lawful presence and resist unlawful interference, intimidation, or coercion.
On the back of each badge is a QR code that links to a secure verification page on the World Public Defense website.
This page only displays a non-identifying photo associated with the badge, and includes instructions for how and under what lawful grounds a verification request may be initiated.
Access to the investigator’s identity is not granted unless a legally justified and proportionate request is submitted by a competent authority and only after a thorough manual review.
We apply strict scrutiny to ensure:
The request has a clear legal basis
The reason is genuinely necessary and proportionate
Investigator data is protected under GDPR Article 5, which mandates that personal data may only be processed for a specific legal purpose, and that only the minimum necessary information is accessed
Where no valid legal basis exists, the request is denied, and the investigator’s identity remains fully protected, in line with lawful privacy standards and the platform’s guiding principles.
Honor & Conduct
All members of World Public Defense are expected to:
Act with calmness and dignity, even under pressure
Avoid confrontation, escalation, or provocation
Stand firm when necessary, to uphold lawful rights and prevent further harm
Never harass or endanger others, including officials, we are not their enemies
We believe that strength is shown through clarity, not aggression. Our duty is not to fight, but to witness, record, and report truth, so the people may know who acts in honor and who does not.
